Why does ONet (onet.student.owens.edu) ask me to accept an "untrusted certificate"?

A SSL certificate signed only by the owner of a website is called a self-signed certificate. Client applications, such as a web browser, that access SSL-secured resources on a website that uses a self-signed SSL certificate will warn that the site could not be verified as a trusted website. Onet.student.owens.edu uses a self-signed certificate, therefore users will get a certificate error when accessing the site.
