I have a Macintosh laptop and I would like to sign on to the Owens wireless network. Are there any special requirements for Macintosh users? Do I need to have an anti-virus installed?

Although there aren’t any restrictions currently in place for Macintosh computers connecting to the OCCWIFI, if you are interested in protecting your Mac from viruses, there are some options available.  For example:

Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Macintosh: Although we currently offer Kaspersky security packages free for Windows systems, we do not have a free version for Macintosh. This product is listed as $39.95, please check back for updates.

There is no longer a need to download anything to get to the Owens wireless network.  To sign on, first connect to the wireless:

1.  Click on the Apple icon

2.  Click on System Preferences

3.  Click on Network in the Network and Internet Row

4.  In the window click on Airport

5.  Turn Airport on (may ask for password)

6.  Network name: OWIFI

7.  Apply

8.  Open web browser

You should be directed to a browser based log in screen where you will be prompted to enter your username and password.  Your username is typically your firstname_lastname and your password is the same as the one you use to log-in to Ozone.
If you have not yet set up your password for Ozone, your initial password is your two-digit birth day, two digit birth year, and 4th and 5th digits of your social security number. For example, if John Doe's birthday is January 05, 1979 and his social security number is 999-22-3333, his initial password is 057922 .
