The Terhune Gallery’s extraordinary group exhibition, “Zeitgeist: The Art Scene of Teenage Basquiat,” in collaboration with Contemporary Art Toledo, focuses on the artists and scene around neo-expressionist Jean-Michel Basquiat’s teenage, pre-fame years in New York and complements Sara Driver’s 2018 theatrical documentary, “Boom for Real: The Late Teenage Years of Jean-Michel Basquiat”.
The free public reception and movie screening event begins with a reception from 5-7 p.m. The movie will be screened in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts theatre at 7 p.m. (run time 1 hour, 19 minutes).

The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences will host a reception for Dr. Derek Alderman, Professor of Geography at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. All faculty and staff are invited. Refreshments will be served.
Dr. Alderman will be presenting on the topic, “The Maps Behind the Movement: African American Freedom Struggles as Geographical Work”, at the University of Toledo at 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 15 . His visit is sponsored in part by Owens Community College.
